Rathin defended his Ph.D. on April 22, 2024. His thesis, “Event-Related Potential Interpretation Approaches for Neonatal Hearing Screening,” focused on designing, developing, and validating neonatal hearing screening systems. He was co-advised by Professor Chetan Singh Thakur.

Rathin’s doctoral research resulted in two patents (one granted, one in progress), two peer-reviewed journal papers (Q1), four conference proceedings, and several accolades, including the SITARE GYTI appreciation award, first runners-up in the SHIFT Hackathon and Smart X Health Hackathon. He also co-authored three peer-reviewed journal papers on invasive neural engineering.

Rathin’s research on epilepsy detection and classification garnered praise in major newspapers and IISc press releases.

He also co-founded Easescan Medtech, a start-up developing a tool for newborn hearing screenings incubated at CPDMED TBI IISc. This innovative solution has been awarded the Biotechnology Ignition Grant.

Rathin is the sixth Ph.D. student graduating from our research group (BEES LAB, Department of Electronic Systems Engineering – DESE, Formerly CEDT).

BEES Lab wishes Rathin a successful career and a bright future ahead!
