Dr. Hardik J. Pandya attended the 45th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC) held in Sydney, Australia, from July 24-27, 2023.

He delivered an oral presentation titled “A Multi-armed Unfurling Actuator for Airway Lumen Measurement,” which focused on a compliant mechanism-based unfurling actuator assembly for accurately measuring the airway lumen area. This tool can aid in assessing the degree of airway narrowing quickly and thoroughly, which is crucial for emergent or planned intubation in cases of congenital, iatrogenic, or idiopathic tracheal stenosis. This work was a part of Dr. Alekya Bejgam’s Ph.D. research work.
