BEES Lab work on “A Smart Way to watch over COVID-19 Patients” is in the headlines

The collaborative work on developing a smartwatch that can measure vital parameters of COVID-19 patients was covered in THE HINDU carried out by a team from BEES Lab, Aster CMI Hospital, Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital, and Research Centre, and MIISKY Technovation Pvt. Ltd. Linked to a smartphone via Bluetooth, the smart watch can record the patient’s blood oxygen saturation and body temperature in real-time.

The device uses non-invasive near-infrared technology to calculate vital parameters. Such a technology is of critical utility in the public health management of our country in times of a pandemic. It will help ease the burden on the testing facilities and the health infrastructure by being able to monitor asymptomatic patients remotely.
