Project Description:
The aim of this project is to explore the integration of haptic feedback devices in wearables,
portable devices, or cabin equipment for wayfinding in an airplane cabin. By leveraging
haptic technology. passengers can receive tactile cues and vibrations to navigate through
the cabin, enhancing their overall travel experience. This project will involve designing and
developing a prototype device that can provide intuitive and discreet haptic feedback,
ensuring ease of use and accessibility for all passengers, particularly for low-visibility or
vision-impaired persons. This project will evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of this
solution, ultimately aiming to improve passenger orientation and reduce anxiety during air
travel.
Use cases to consider.
Initial boarding, finding seat for persons with low-visibility/blind.
Finding empty lavatory, darkened cabin.
Returning to seat from lavatory.
