Digital VLSI circuits (E0 284): Aug-Dec 2024

    • Objective:
      • Develop strong fundamentals in digital CMOS design with a focus on building more efficient circuits
    • Overview:
      • MOS Transistor basics, Delay, Power, Interconnect, Robustness, Combinational & Sequential circuit design, Array sub-systems, Memory design (basics)
    • Lab:
      • Using the Cadence design suite to design, simulate and verify designs
      • An average of 3 hours of lab assignments per week, along with a course project
    • References:
      • CMOS VLSI Design by Weste & Harris (4th edition)
      • Digital Integrated Circuits by Rabaey, Chandrakasan, Nikolic (2nd edition)
    • Prerequisites:
      • Network theory (undergrad level),
        Students from non-electronics backgrounds will find it challenging
      • This is a basic course with no prerequisites needed at the graduate level!
    • Timings:
      • Theory: Mon & Wed: 10-11AM
      • Lab: Mon: 2-5:30PM
